How to save a dying GPA

Thinking about dropping a class or dropping out after a sloppy midterm?

Every student encounters certain classes that don’t click with their strengths. Nearly all students deal with a grade drop at some point in their college journey. It's okay to struggle with certain courses. What’s not okay is using them as an excuse for you to not build your dream career.

Imagine walking into your finals, unbothered and anxious. You overcame the setback at the beginning of the semester. If you make the right decisions, you can turn your GPA and career around.

Tomorrow, make a to-do list of these actions and try to cross off everything till the holidays.

Create a Study Plan

- Jot down your courses by listing each class and current grades.

- Spend more study time to challenging subjects and schedule office hours for extra help.

 Create a Daily Routine

- Set a consistent wake-up time to avoid oversleeping (aim for 6–8 hours of sleep).

- Incorporate exercise into your morning routine to boost energy and reduce stress.

- Don’t skip meals to maintain focus and energy levels.

Avoid all Distractions During Study Sessions

- Keep your phone away and stay hydrated.

- Take short breaks every hour to recharge.

 Consider Power Naps

- Take a 30-minute nap after lunch to refresh your mind.

 Review Your Studies

- After studying, take a brief walk to clear your mind and then review what you’ve learned.

Sleep Well

- Ensure you go to bed on time to wake up refreshed and ready for the next day.

How do I organize my google calendar to have a stress free-internship season?

Alex is that student who seems to have it all figured out. He’s the president of an artificial intelligence club he founded, a D1 athlete, and he still manages to keep a great social life with eight hours of sleep every night. He does all of that while having landed a FAANG internship.

How is his life even possible? Time management is arguably the most important skill of a young professional. It will literally make or break your life. By organizing your time well, you can stay on top of everything.

  1. Organize Your Calendar with Key Categories
    Structure your calendar into categories:

    • Classes & Labs: Schedule all classes, labs, study sessions, and exam prep.

    • Internship Applications: Track deadlines, interview dates, and follow-ups.

    • Projects & Skills: Include coding projects and skill-building sessions.

    • LeetCode Practice: Block out time for problem-solving practice.

    • Events & Networking: Mark tech events and career fairs.

    • Self-Care: Schedule workouts and breaks for balance.

  2. Schedule Recurring and Critical Events First
Start with class schedules and study blocks. Set reminders for internship deadlines. Break down tasks: research companies, customize applications, and review job descriptions. Aim for regular LeetCode sessions—“LeetCode 3x/week.”

  3. Update Immediately & Stay Consistent
Add new deadlines and opportunities as they arise. If you secure an interview, schedule prep time to review the company and relevant LeetCode problems. Keep your calendar up to date.

  4. Use Colors to Easily Identify Categories
Assign colors to each category: blue for classes, green for internships, orange for LeetCode. Change colors seasonally for a fresh perspective.

Integrate with Task Management Apps and Set Up Notifications
Sync with Notion or Todoist to track tasks and study materials. Set notifications for high-priority events like interviews or office hours.
